Silicone Soul - Burning Sands (Hypnohouse Dub) (Soma Records) (Clip)

Silicone Soul - Smokestak (Soma Records) Out 29th Oct... (Beatport Exclusive) 1. Smokestak 2. I Am 3. One Thing 4. Burning Sands (Hypnohouse Dub) 5. Like Mice In A Maze Since the turn of the century, Glasgow duo Silicone Soul have been one of the corner-stones of the mighty Soma Quality Recordings, giving the label its first chart appearance with ‘Right On,' while relentlessly pushing the boundaries of deep, soul-fuelled house music through their epoch-making albums. As their esteemed Darkroom Dubs imprint approaches its tenth anniversary as one of the UK’s leading bastions of forward-thrusting subterranean house music, Craig Morrison and Graeme Reedie are releasing their first new music as Silicone Soul on Soma for almost three years. Lead track ‘Smokestak’ is the pulsating embodiment of the raw house music seam the duo have been mining since the late 90's: taking on board the essential groove and vital crowd-detonating manoeuvres while injecting flavours of music’s past legacy; in the case of the title track a sublimely extended saxophone line which, while evoking the burning soul of John Coltrane, knows how to stretch into the heart of the most delirious dance floor. This underlying knowledge of and passion for music, which has always underpinned the pair’s musical explorations, positively explodes in the conga fury of ‘I Am,' the soul power whipped up by gospel preaching. If that wasn’t enough, ‘Burning Sands’ is plucked from their second album, 'Staring Into Space' and given the deepest Hypnohouse Dub sheen. The sonic adventures are completed by 'One Thing' and the twilight zone finale of 'Like Mice In A Maze.' Dj's, dancers and seen-it-all house stalwarts should be both honoured and enthralled to be assuaged by such a mighty missive. That it’s the door to Darkroom Dubs’ inner sanctum having its own first decade knees up is a frightening bonus. (Kris Needs)

Silicone Soul - Burning Sands (Lee Jones Remix) (Soma DA094)

Silicone Soul | Soma20 Remixes Release date: 21/05/2012 [SomaDA094] Soma records release this Silicone Soul remix album on 21st May with an array of new versions of a back catalogue spanning many years on the Soma label. The success of the last, eponymous Silicone Soul album shows here with four tracks from the album remixed alongside much earlier Silicone Soul work. Opening the album is Matthias Tanzmann’s remix of Right on, Right On. Tanzmann is renowned for his crowd-pleasing DJ sets and intelligent and grooving productions the world over. In his remix he strips back the original to its percussive elements and delicately layers the strings and vocal samples creating a winning mix of a classic. Included in many of Silicone Soul’s recent South American sets and off the back of his first album for Poker Flat, Alex Niggemann, along with Marc Poppcke, remixes The Snakecharmer providing a seamless collaboration and energetic, yet playfully dark track towards the end of the album. Others such as The Spirals, The Black Dog and Sascha Funke have become firm favourites in their DJ sets and proved to be very much part of the Silicone Soul ethos. 1. Right On, Right On (Matthias Tanzmann Remix) 2. Nosferatu (Of Norway Version) 3. Dogs Of Les Ilhes (Kollektiv Turmstrasse Remix) 4. Call Of The Dub (The Black Dog Remix) 5. 4. Silicone Soul - Burning Sands (Lee Jones Remix) (Clip)

Silicone Soul - Burning Sands (Lee Jones Remix) (Clip)

While we may well have slipped silently into their 21st Year, Soma Records still have one final release from their 20th Anniversary selection to bring us… and it's one of the very best. Silicone Soul "The Soma20 Remixes" is a collection that brings together the very best remixes of tracks by the Scottish duo. Whilst some have featured on Soma20 EP's last year, there's also a selection of brand new and previously unreleased mixes, featuring remixes chosen specifically by Craig and Graeme themselves. Picking tracks from each of their four albums "...A Soul Thing", "Staring Into Space", "Save Our Souls" and "Silicone Soul", the duo have given us snap-shots from their career, all reworked and refreshed by some of their favourite producers. First up is their biggest hit to date, the crossover smash "Right On, Right On." With a host of remixes of the track seeing a release last summer, it was this late addition from Matthias Tanzmann that has become a real crowd pleaser and secret weapon. Its delicate layers and percussive elements tease to perfection and create a real pressure cooker of a mix that has already ignited the DC10 closing party last summer. Sascha Funke brings his bass synth and reworks "Under A Werewolf Moon" into yet another stone-cold stunner. Alex Niggemann & Marc Poppcke harness the original groove of "The Snakecharmer" and hypnotise us with their sleek, intergalactic funk. Darkroom Dubs favourites Of Norway turn in a typically epic 15min opus as they revise "Nosferatu" with typical aplomb. The Silicone Soul "Soma20 Remixes" features more remixes from The Black Dog, Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Sascha Dive, Lee Jones, Matt Tolfrey, Tim Paris, Ripperton, Hatikvah, Freska, Maetrik and The Spirals… MASSIVE Dj SUPPORT from: Joris Voorn, Hernan Cattaneo, Reboot, Ewan Pearson, Raresh, Luciano, Audiojack, AME, Slam, Laurent Garnier, Magda, Dirt Crew, Satoshi Tomiie, DJ Hell, Danny Howells, John Digweed, Carl Cox, Nuno dos Santos, Visionquest, Harri (Sub Club), Gel Abril, Jozif, Groove Armada, Psycatron & many more…
